Im Gordon - 25 from Oxford United Kingdom.

Whilst I started doing art since... well since i was capable of holding a crayon (at least thats what my parents say..), I actually havnt been doing the stuff thats posted on here for long...

I was hugely into art between the ages of 10-17 and my goal was actually to become an artist for Games Workshop (The wargames / minitures company) which I was heavily into at that time.

Unfortunately my A-level art teacher (combined with the awful grading system - i.e. its all about the write up rather than actual ability that determines whether u get an A or not) totally destroyed my passion for the subject... and as a result I went to university to study History rather than art college, and until the last 6 months... I bassicaly havnt done a peice of art since.

However that changed when I did an oil painting of my mother for her 50th.. and I then did some research into fantasy / sci-fi / digital art (i.e. I bought an issue of Imagine FX... lol). From then on a wacom tablet, a copy of photoshop and painter and I havnt stopped since.

Ideally (like most of us) I would love to be able to do this professionally.. and I have no doubt that if I hadnt quit at 17 I would be professional standard now. However there is no point regretting the past and its best to look to the future, and im doing my best to improve with each peice I do.

Biggest influence is obvious - Warhammer 40k I absolutely love the tone and feel of the art / universe... Others include classic artists such as William Blake, Gaudi, Salvidor Dali, H.R. Giger (although hes more cult than classic lol)... etc.

I'm heavily into music, particularly heavy, technical music with ambience...I'm also a musician and am currently playing in a prog metal band called "Taste My Eyes" - not my name of choice lol but the music is good :) [link]

Other than that hobbies include reading, playing PC games, and watching good shows (i.e. battlestar gallactica).

My day job I wont mention cause its too depressing lol :P

Anyway apologies for rambling :)

Damn you microsoft

Well one of my peices (Space Marine Crusader) is being featured in the Warhammer ezine "Astromag" which im rather chuffed about :)

Its on the back page as a preview for issue 6, and is going to be in issue 6 as well if I understood correctly.

At the same time I havnt been able to do any new works this last week and a half due to my computer mysteriously slowing down (no its not spyware or viruses, ive checked) after a windows update... rendering photoshop / painter virtually unuseable due to input lag, freezes and crashes... Im trying a reinstall of vista (fail i know), but thats taking forever. Hopefully its not a hardware failure... which means more money...

Really wouldnt surprise me if microsoft was deliberately making vista even more resource intensitive than before to get people to buy windows 7 instead.
